The Deep Water Sampler allows for the collection of up to 26 grab samples at depths of 300m (shallow), 1500m (deep), 3000m (ultra-deep) or 6000 m (extreme) using miniaturized peristaltic pump (PP) technology.
Easy to install on any autonomous underwater vehicle or mooring system, this versatile equipment can be deployed in a variety of configurations and allows for a wide range of sampling strategies, as the vials can be equipped with different types of filters or be pre-filled with various preservatives or biocides.
Returning in-situ samples to the surface allows for subsequent laboratory analysis (complete fingerprinting of hydrocarbon traces, full ocean chemistry, microbiology and metagenomics), as well as verification of in-line sensor measurements (e. g. WiMo/WiSens physicochemical probes).
Sampling can be done in real time or pre-programmed, from sensors or by remote control. For autonomous applications in shallow waters, the sampler can be equipped with a battery and a programmable control module.
A versatile instrument, the Deep Water Sampler can be used in a wide range of applications:
